Why Your Baby Is Waking at Night and What You Can Do About It

If your baby is waking multiple times a night, you are not alone. This is one of the most common reasons parents reach out for sleep support.

Night waking is normal in early infancy, but for many families it continues longer than expected and becomes exhausting.

There are a few key reasons this happens.

The first is sleep associations. If your baby relies on feeding, rocking or being held to fall asleep, they will often need the same support between sleep cycles during the night.

The second is overtiredness. When babies stay awake too long, their bodies release stress hormones which actually make it harder to stay asleep.

The third is undertiredness. Not enough awake time during the day can also lead to fragmented nights.

And finally, developmental changes. Sleep is not static. It evolves constantly in the first years of life.

The good news is that sleep can improve with the right approach.

Creating an age appropriate routine, supporting your baby to fall asleep more independently, and adjusting daytime sleep can make a big difference.

If you are feeling stuck, it is not a sign you are doing anything wrong. It usually just means your baby needs a slightly different level of support now.
