We often hear the phrase it takes a village to raise a child.
But many mothers are doing this without one.
Living away from family, raising children abroad, or simply not having consistent support can make everything feel heavier.
The days are long. The nights can feel even longer. And there is often no real break.
Sleep deprivation adds another layer. When you are already tired, everything feels harder. Small challenges can feel overwhelming.
There can also be a quiet sense of isolation. You are surrounded by people, yet still feel alone in the responsibility.
This is something I see often with the families I support, especially expat mothers.
It is important to say this clearly. Struggling without a village is not a personal failing. It is a structural one.
Support does not always have to look like family nearby.
It can be building small pockets of help. A friend who understands. A routine that creates breathing space. Guidance that helps you feel more in control of sleep and daily life.
You are not meant to carry everything on your own.
